NZCT Wellington Dragon Boat Festival

One of the biggest Festivals in the country and renowned world wide as a great festival venue, Wellington can sure throw a mean party for the competitiors when it wants to.  NOT JUST A RACE WEEKEND but a festival with all the extras.  Be part of the opening and closing ceremonies which include a uniform parade and team chant competition.

The 320m course is set just metres off Frank Kitts promenade, making spectating accessible and exciting for everyone. Add to that food stalls, crafts, jewellery, face painting, chinese lion dancers, stilt walkers, and sometimes even Army tanks, this is an event that will keep you entertained all day long.

Corporate races, sporting and social club races, school crew races and breast cancer Survivor (Pink ladies races).

ROUND THE FOUNTAIN - Harbour Fun Day

Saturday (date tba) Wellington Harbour

This is a fun day from the lagoon, practice racing against other teams on the 320m course, then after a bar-b-que back in the boats for the around the fountain race.   It tests out your endurance and gives your team some pre-festival racing, great training and FUN!    You may want to go to a world championships after conquering this.

Points to note:

• as the emphasis is on fun, this day is treated casually when it comes to racing.
• It is up to teams to time themselves in their races
• some communal shelter will be provided but teams have the option to purchase a corporate tent if they wish
• School, Corporate and Open teams will race together for the first 2 races
• Free bbq for competitors
• event open to teams entered into the Wellington Dragon Boat Festival only
• Safety rules must still be adhered to
• Have FUN!
