Types of Teams

Sports teams (formally known as Open Teams)

Sports teams are made up of keen Dragon Boaters from all walks of life, abilities, strengths, weaknesses, etc who all enjoy Dragon Boating for an amazing amount of reasons.

Here's the deal on entering a team in the Sports Division:

• No restrictions on individual team members in terms of employer
• Categories are Mixed, Women's, Men's (open).   Age categories are 18-23 Youth,  18+ Premiers, 40+ Masters BSC - Breast Cancer Survivors.            * The Men's crew can have women in it.
• On race weekend a maximum squad of 25 may be drawn on to provide the crew of 22 for each race
• Crews in this division are offered a minimum of 8 hours of training before competing in the Festival weekend. You can train one or two hours per week depending on the start date requested. There is no upper limit on the number of training sessions. If you choose to purchase the minimum 8 sessions then all of your training must be taken in the season starting in January.
• Some open team may consist of employees of one workplace who simply wish to race in the Open Division.

Breast cancer teams, students from the University, workplace friends whose business doesn't sponsor their team, clubs, and more...
