Racing Categories
Corporate Division (Min 8 to Max 12 training sessions) 15 of the squad of 25 must belong to one company
Banking and Finance, Defence Forces, Insurance, Telecommunications, Councils, Government Dpts, Manufacturing, Building, Oil Industry, Information Technology, Recruitment, Media, Hotels and Pub's (other categories added on request).
Sports Division (Unlimited training) Paddlers do not have to belong to one company
Mixed, Womens and Men's (under 23's, Premiers 18+, Masters 40+, Grandmasters 50+, Cancer Survivor) + New category of "Teachers and Parents" in a Boat. Listen to More FM throughout October for your chance to be on the "LOVE BOAT".

Registration packs for local Wellington teams will be available from 1st October 2010 and will be available for downloading from this site or by emailing crew@dragonboat.org.nz A special registration night, where you can find out more about entering a team and ask questions will be held on 1st November at the Chicago Cafe and Bar on Queens Wharf. Get your company involved in this "iconic" Wellington festival. It's one of the best team building exercises on offer and the publicity your company will receive by being seen on the water is priceless.
National and International Teams.
In Wellington, we will go out of our way to welcome all our out of town visitors. All you need to do is ask the festival office and we will assist you every step of the way. It's an experience you don't want to miss.
Racing is split into 3 divisions.
(Corporate) Mixed crews ( Sports/Open) Mixed, Womens and Mens crews (Schools) Mixed, Boys and Girls.
Getting to Wellington: Air New Zealand, Qantas and Virgin fly directly into Wellington from Australia. Jetstar, Qantas and Air New Zealand fly into Wellington from other cities around New Zealand.
Accommodation: The centrally located IBIS Hotel have rooms from NZ $129 per room per night (2-4 share). You can book direct or through the Festival office. This is one of the best deals in Wellington. Luxury and location without the price tag.
Transport: If you are staying at the IBIS Hotel - there will be no need for transport. The hotel is CBD based and located 2 minutes walk to the race site in Wellington Harbour, 2 minutes to the party venue on Queens Wharf and 1 minute walk to shops, restaurants and bars. The Hotel has a communal meeting area for teams.
Registration: It is very easy and paddlers do not need ID tags. All you need to do is email
crew@dragonboat.org.nz for a registration pack and fax off the entry form. You will be allocated a marquee for the race days so all you need to do is turn up, have fun and race your hearts out.
The presentation party: Entry is free and just one minute from the race site. Held at the Chicago Bar, Queens Wharf.
Prizes: There are the traditional medals and trophies BUT there are also significant prizes of team bar tabs courtesay of our sponsor the Chicago Bar.
Racing divisions: Corporate, Sports, Schools or Cancer Survivor teams - we have a category for you.
The corporate division is Mixed only but other divisions are Men's, Women's and Mixed.
Entry Fees: Adults (out of town teams) NZ$1,750.00 Incl GST. Includes Marquee, race entry fees and entry to before and after parties. Wellington based teams, please refer to the "get involved" page under "Costs".
